I heard that the manager illegally rigged the coffee machine to be X amount of degrees hotter than normal, so people would take more time drinking it, so he could effectively circumvent the free refill policy.

They figured somehow that not admitting guilt and keeping things how they are would be cheaper than admitting, settling, and stopping further injuries.

The coffee's going to hurt if you accidentally dump it on your chest, but hot enough to cause 3rd degree burns? Not to mention, rigging the coffee machine was illegal.

Of course, this is all hearsay... =p
