I agree with the people who think the military service thread has gone too far. I was interested at first, but now that Gortman has the gall to tell us that a) the Japanese go around killing people for fun and b) we are all a bunch of snivelling cowards, I take no further interest in anything he has to say.

If any rational, courteous, civilised people want to continue discussing the interesting aspects of this topic, I'll read *their* thread. However, if only rational, courteous, civilised people had been involved here, I wouldn't be posting this at all.
