While in North Carolina, we went by the Carpenter museum at Dennis Carpenter Reproducions. Dennis makes repo parts for 50's and older Fords and almost every part for any Cushman. Naturally, the museum had plenty of Fords and Cushmans. It is probably the largest most complete collection of Cushman motor scooters in the world. They have other cars besides Fords, including a '51 Crosley station wagon, like the one I drove in high school. Also motorcycles including lots of vintage English stuff. If there was a Famous James, like the one I had in 1951, I didn't find it. There was also everything from radios to cigarette lighters, gas pumps, bicycles etc. Willette was greatly impressed by the volumn of "stuff." Almost everything came from the first 60 years of the 20th century. There were several Model T Fords, flashy convertibles from the 30's and 40's and several Lincolns and Mercurys. Anything that reminds you of the 20th century might be there. If you like that kind of stuff, this is a great place. It is located about a mile east of Lowes Motor Speedway, at Concord, which is near Charlotte, N.C. Don't go on race day.
