Murkon - Diving for Items of Specialness

I've been mooching around on level 8 for a bit to level up my newly retrained druid and assassin.

I had found that most of the items I was getting from pools on level 8 were pretty standard until my wizard and knight got to 30 points of vision at which point the items of specialness started showing up with much more welcome regularity.

Is there a relationship between the characters power of sight and the quality of the item retrieved from the pool or am I just starting to get lucky?
