Rods are good for back-row characters on levels where no spell is strong enough to kill anything in one hit. At least they give you fewer monsters hitting back in the first round, till your front three carve them to bits.

I'll take them. Any Item of Extra-Specialness is still money in the bank. Of course, if I ever dive into another pool and pull out a Displacer Hide, I think I'm going to kill someone. Possibly Murkon, but you never know.
