Stupidly Stuck in GOA's Forest

OK, I feel really stupid, because I am near the beginning and I already need help. I have no idea what to do next. I can't do anything in the forest, and I think I've done everything else there is to do in the city. What in the world am I supposed to do next?

Diving Mask
Pick
Life Preserver
Bucket

Free Trial Sword of Failing
Ticket
Food Rations
Rope

Magic Armor of Magic
Key of Questioning
Dead Fish
