Depends on why I'm reading the poem (or for
me: lyrics. I love music.) If I'm reading it simply
for enjoyment, entertainment, what have you,
then I observe breaks and rhythm and meter
and all that fun stuff. But if my English teacher
says: "Go home and figure out what this poem
means," then I have to read it observing
punctuation and ignoring line breaks/etc,
because reading something as prose makes
it a lot easier to understand the meaning of
the words.
