Murkon's Refuge: how to survive on level 7? posted by Ekaterin on Tuesday, April 16, 2002, at 02:45:12:

I can't get into most of level 6 yet, and when my party ventured to level 7 they quickly got so badly mangled that they couldn't make it back to Kaliti. I've resurrected them all, but I can't afford to get killed again. > > A few more specific questions... > > What is a good combination of characters for a newbie? Currently I have one of each class, but this forum seems to imply that this is a "challenge" combination. Maybe three Assassins and three Druids? (I'm just guessing about the Assassins, but I do like the way the Druid's natural regeneration saves on Cure spells.) > One of each is a good start, but you'll want to have some extra spellcasting power. At some point, you'll want to retrain your Sorcerer as a Wizard and vice versa. They'll be stronger, more resilient and easier to equip than Druids, and they'll learn all the spells faster.
Also, at some point you'll want to swap a Wizard and a Knight/Assassin. That way you'll have a fighter who knows healing magic, and you'll have someone with lots of HP who will learn it.
When a retrained character keeps something from his previous class (HP, SP, spells) he typically won't acquire (m)any more until the new class is up to the level he used to be at in the old class. That's ok, cause when you're deep in the dungeon and you only have one character retrained, he levels up to 13 in a flash.
If you want experience more than you want gold, and you want to see if you're ready for level 7, try and find something to kill on level 6. Yes, you can do this.
