So I had once more to walk through the entire 4th level, killing everything I encountered. Killing the Gatekeeper and his minions was a breeze, what with one Sorcerer of level 13 and two of level 11. > > > > > > > > > > So now I have 6 characters alive at Perinn and 1 alive at Lyesis. Getting out of Lyesis alive is still extremely difficult. Currently I have 7 characters alive and 5 dead. Luckily I sometimes pick valuable items up from the dungeons, selling one of those at Lyesis gives me enough gold to resurrect 3 characters at Perinn. The difficult part is getting to Perinn... > > > > > > My weakest characters are now of level 11 and my strongest are of level 15. I typically have my level 15 Wizard cast EPIDEMIC and 3 Sorcerors each cast SHRAPNELS or RAZORS. That usually takes care of enough monsters so that the rest can be finished off by hand. > > > > Try using SEIZURES, too. Works wonderfully! > > > Looks like I won't be having space for Rogues. Perhaps I should retrain my two Rogues as Knights or Sorcerers? But first I have to try to get all 12 characters out of Lyesis alive. Right now I'm concentrating on getting them alive in the first place, after that I will split them into two parties who will each go back to Kaliti on their own. > > Either assassins or sorcerors. But I suggest keeping 1 rogue, just because they level up like crazy later on. (Disarming a trap is worth 20,000XP on level 9!)
Rogues don't level up that fast. Levels take lots more than 20kXP, and I'd rather have an Assassin who can take out nine monsters with critical hits in one round of attacks, plus have extra WC and AC. Also, Assassins can use some cool equipment that Rogues can't use. More killing = more levels. Try converting a spellcaster who knows DISARM and has 200SP into an Assassin. Leave those SP aside for DISARM, and use the other spellcasters to attack.
I say the best party is 3 Assassins, 3 Sorcerers-turned-Wizards who know all the spells. Druids are terribly hard to clothe.
