I'd say see how you fare on level 10 and see if you think you'd be more comfortable if another guy knew all the spells. If you're fine the way you are, don't bother. There really isn't a right or wrong answer to that question. The game is perfectly doable either way. Another set of spells would make it easier but require more time to develop.
