Need help on MR level 6

Does anyone know how to get past the sign on level 6? It says that to pass the sign you need the tunnel rock or something like that. I've tried going down the stairs from level 5 which just takes you to a completely closed room with a stairs going up and a stairs going down and nothing else. I tried dropping down the chute from level 5, but I just drop into a huge group of monsters and then when I leave the room, I'm pushed back behind the sign again. I've scoured level 5 for this tunnel rock and I couldn't find it anywhere. Does anyone know where I can find it or what I should do now?
