Start by looking at the front gate of Larosis; that should give you a clue. Also, have you visited the sage yet? If not, explore by some bushes outside the city(Before you met the traveler). You won't be able to get a focus stone unless you talk to him 1st. Then you need to go back home. hope that helps!
