Have you been to the General Store yet? It's a great place to buy stuff (you'll have to go back several times for different things.) And you get things to buy with all over the place... rummaging around, looking at the ground is good. I'm not sure, but I think the thing you need this time is in the gardens. The person you need to help is in the Enchanted Forest.
