GOA can't get into building to find guils or whatever they are

that building where it seems i have to go to start the whole ring sequence(get the ring picture, talk to blacksmith, etc.) HOW DO U GET IN THERE? the south door wont open and nobody in town mentions how to do it. PLEASE HELP ME OUT.

My Inventory:
19 bronze coins
Guards sword
torch(the makeshift one)
Clear Focus stone
map
7 red gemstones
stone of strengthening
wire clippers
peice of trash
Magnifying glass
3 black gemstones
Food Rations
Key of opening
crate
6 apples
tinderbox
portrait
hammer
