I've found that almost all of the Europeans that I've met, German, Italian, Austrian, French, Spanish, etc etc, have found England to be the most dreich (colloquial Scots: wet and cold) place they've ever been to.

Maybe THEY perpetuate the story in some act of twisted vengeance.

It has been nice over the past few days, but that doesn't balance out a childhood of prune-like fingers from the neverending downpour that is Scottish weather.

But I think we're missing a vital point here:

you left the house in flip-flops?!?
