Regarding the cat, chat more with Caroline and you might find something interesting. You can get the tubes later in the game. As for the gun, don't worry about it. You don't need weapons till later in the game. And the X230, what do you mean? You have seen Kepler haven't you?
P.S. Based on your inventory, look everywhere possible in the station again and talk to everybody.
