the janitor should laugh at you enough to make something happen there. you should be able to corner the cat at some point and use the leash. and the mirror will help you out with someone whom you met very, very early in the game... check around the pharmacy area. she will give you something that will help you out with a person who has magpie like tendencies when it comes to pretty objects...
