Try exploring some more in the cave where you went to escape the ogre. There's something you can get from the cave, with a little effort. You can give that item to someone in exchange for other items. This bartering system should give you a good clue as to where to go. Also examine some areas thoroughly, as the gold pieces are scattered here and there.
