There is a theory that, if you were to build a time machine, you could not go back in time further than the point that the time machine was switched on for the first time. There is another theory that for time travel you need two slabs of lead both as long as the Milky Way is wide.

I don't understand either of these, as I haven't got up to the time-travel part of my Physics course. This knowledge was passed down to me by television, which means it's probably flawed in some way.

I don't really want to get mixed up in all the paradoxes that surround time travel - so I'll let someone else argue that.
