You won't be able to get in that way. The ledge is pretty much useless at this point. You'll have to do the same sort of thing you did in the area with the pillar and the bats and the beetles. You'll get enough time to do this, but you might have to make a little map first. Or you can do what I did, which was to wander around until I found what I was looking for, and then work my way back from there -- noting the directions I went and then reversing them when I went the other way.

By the way, you can't jump at the ledge. Maybe there's another spot nearby where you can jump?
