I think we have a simillar problem here... Althought it's not since Sept. 11...

You see, the city of Ottawa recently consolidated, and since they have a significant French-speaking minority, it was made bilingual. (French, English. So the papers have to be in both languages, and some people have to be bilingual to keep their jobs)

So this lady, Marguerite... Something, is opposing this. She received the order of Canada, and she's president of the Canadian Human Right Institute.

She claims that bilinguism discriminates toward English-speaking people, since they have to learn French... And that the capital of Canada shouldn't be bilingual.

HELLO???? The country is! If *I* have to learn English, why not the other guys? Just because they speak English, they shouldn't serve people in French?

The weird thing is that this lady also protest the way English-speaking people are treated in Québec.

Sorry, this was OT, but I had to vent.
