Paris

Mike and I are planning to spend a week in Paris in May.
We're not doing anything expensive, just getting a private room at a hostel and a museum pass. Most of our trip will be spent at the Louvre or walking around downtown.
I'm learning some passable French, and it's harder than I thought it would be. Due to my three years of high school Spanish, I keep wanting to pronounce the words as if they were from that language.
The "u"'s and "r"'s are the hardest to master. The word "sucre" is impossible. Mike makes fun of the grunting and coughing which are my attempts at these sounds. He's already fluent in French. Of course.
Anyway, my reason for posting: who has been to Paris? What do you recommend? I know of some online resources, but I'd like to hear some opinions from people I know and who are somewhat like me (please don't take that as an insult :).
Thanks... Jess
