It was changed by King James, who was apparently paranoid about magic, witches, supernatural powers, so on, in the King James Bible. Are there any Bible experts out there who could tell me if this is pure rumor? It sounds reasonable to me.

According to Strong's Greek and Hebrew Dictionary, the Hebrew word used in Exodus 22:18 (thou shalt not suffer a witch to live) is Kashaph, which means "to enchant or practice magic."

Doesn't seem to be much ambiguity there to me.
