If you live in the US, here's a place you can go to find out. Just type in your city and state (and county, if you want) and it will give you a list of the cities with that name and some stats, including elevation.

The weird thing is that I expected the town I grew up in in PA to be much closer to sea level than where I'm living now, but it's four hundred feet higher. Strange.
