I'm betting that your friend got a good education without laying out too much cash. State supported schools such as MTSU are an education bargain. Times may have changed, but when I was there, most people were very serious about getting educated. People who went to college for other reasons usually went to "partytime" schools. My life has been better because of the time I spent there, and my two daughters, also MTSU alumni, would say the same thing.

Be sure you look up Jones Hall where I lived(if you can call it living) as a Freshman in 1953. I don't think they have torn it down yet. Another building that is noteworthy is the President's Home at the corner of East Main and Tennessee Blvd. "Old Main," which was formerly known as the Administration Building, was built in 1911. It is Classic Greek in style and very impressive. I think they have fixed the squeeky floors.
