I gave my gold to the gypsy, and I can't get it back!

In Fantasy Quest, I found a gold piece in the Enchanted Forest and gave it to the gypsy. It was either her or the General Store. She snatched it, gave me nothing, and now I don't have anything for the store! Can someone help??
