'Peace' is a utopian state. As far as I'm concerned, humanity has made only miniscule steps towards a peaceful society, where everyone can mind there chosen business without fearing interference from anyone - is this how paradise looks like? If this is the case, there must logically be a growing number of paradises. Anyway, what I meant to state is this: No, not "just like you and me". By nature (or achievement, you decide) we are higher up the food chain than most animals. Since a food chain is an accurate model of the way Nature works, I beleive that is is 'natural' for us to eat animals.

I'll agree with you on this one. With my limited knowledge of modern food industry (an accurate term, I beleive), I'd say that the meat we buy from stores often comes from inhumanely treated animals, especially the 'keeping in a box' thing. I'm not sure about the "quick cut" either, but I'd have to say that I don't really know for sure.

I realise that 'murder' is a no-no word for many. None the less, the harsh reality is that, yes, it is natural for humans to 'murder' animals for food (and plenty of other things). Get used to it, 'cause I dare say you wouldn't be alive if this were not the case.
That said, there is one very good reason for not buying meat (and becoming politicaly active), and that is the way (a large part of) the meat industry treats the animals.
