Actually, the NZ government has recently scrapped the broadcasting fee. (Hooray!) We only had it catch up with us once, and we paid it like wimps to avoid hassle, but I do have a moral objection to paying for something which is already paid for by copious and irritating amounts of TV advertising. Especially when you mostly use the TV to watch videos or play games on. The best thing about the demise of the annual fee is that, presumably, we won't have to see any more of those STUPID ads with the robot goldfish telling us to pay up "so you can see MORE of New Zealand on air!" These were always run immediately after New Zealand-made shows, which are invariably so awful that you are left wanting to actually break into the goldfish's bank vault and take OUT some money so we could see LESS of New Zealand on air.
