The Mother/Daughter relationship is based off of the Black Canaries though. And the reason the Charalton heroes wern't actually used in Wathcmen was that DC had bought them and decided to integrate them into the regualr DCU. So variation on the themes they presented had to be created, which I think was a plus. Rorsachs's shifting mask is creeper than the Quetion's plank face, Nite Owl is just a cooler name than Blue Beetle, and Dr. Manhatten is far more weird than Captian Atom will ever be.
