This strip might be the reason I stalled out on Season 3. I knew I wanted to do this episode, and I also knew it was a ton of work. I had just started the tedious task of constructing the silhouettes I needed, but since I was pretty burned out on the comic overall, the prospect of all that photoshop work plus the unusually difficult layout and writing work was just too much for me at the time. But after a lengthy break to recover my creative energy, I was only too eager to finally lock this idea down.

It was also a great way to crank through a lot of this fight scene. There are so many similarly-choreographed fight scenes in this movie, it's a real challenge to do something different with them all in the comic.

One of the jokes here warrants calling out: The "work your body" line, a response to the mention of the "1080s," is a reference even more obscure than the real MST3K generally allows. It refers to an old Nintendo GameCube game, "1080 Snowboarding," in which the title pages were accompanied by music with the exhaustively repeated refrain "Work your body, work your body! Work your body, work your body!" Dave (co-author of several features on this site) and I used to play that game quite a bit, so the song became something of a running joke.
