The worst ending is, technically, you losing the game.

The next worst would be you leaving the island without taking the treasure.

Yes in every category, regardless of the number of resets will get you the best ending. And yeah, it still says "Did you get the best ending?" because that's what's in the "WIN" file text. If you did all that, congratulations! You've beaten the game and gotten the best ending.

Now, go back and try to do all of it in as few moves as possible. The lowest number of moves, at least by my count (and I wrote the game) is 223. I think. It's in the Hall of Fame.
