Outlaws of the Sierra Nevadas help please!!

I am stuck at the point where the last significant thing I did was escape from the barn with some hay.

I have:
26 Dollars
Wood (I already used some, but picked more up)
Hat Pin
Playing Cards
Cabbage
Your Gun
Hannibal
Feather
Cord
Spittoon
Matches
Altar Cloth
Key
Map
Hay

I got the map off the old woman in an upstairs room of the saloon, but there's another locked room and I don't know if I need to get into it?

I think I might need to go to the desert, but I don't know how to get there?

Any help? :)
