When you win a round, you get 500 gold and 500 points, prior to adjustments based on damage.
When you lose a round, you get 450 gold but only 350 points. The reason for the disparity is logistical. If you get almost as much gold when you lose as when you win, it reduces the degree to which a single loss hurts you. If, for example, you only got 350 gold, you'd have a much more difficult time recovering from even a single loss. But if the *score* were nearly as high for a loss as it is for a win, the score wouldn't adequately differentiate between the two.
The numbers were different in tournaments #1 and #2, but the rules then adhered to this same general idea.
I suspect that now that you know this, you can guess the rest. But basically your score is then decremented by the cost of your medical expenses -- that holds regardless of whether you win or lose.
The loser is then awarded points equal to the winner's medical expenses. So the loser recoups some of what he loses in his own medical expenses. But since his own medical expenses are always maximal -- he *lost*, after all -- he'll never recoup *all* his losses.
The only other rule is that the final rounds have a larger starting score, for winners and losers both.
