You're right on one part. The one who did it is not some newbee who doesn't understand the game, nor someone who forgot to check it for a day or two. This really sound like a deliberate act to screw a favorite, and it really sucks.

On another count, it's still possible for a newbee to progressively understand the system and eliminate a favorite. But I conceed, not on the 1 vs 64 fight, more likely on the 25 vs 40 fight.

Then on another part, if you only want to test mathematical winning strategies, you might be better to use an excel file. The other players are not guinea pigs... ;-)
