Is the drawbridge on the castle beyond the cat down? If not there's someone in the forest who is very hungry. No, he doesn't want a carrot, but you do have the means to feed him. Patience is a virtue with that step. If the drawbridge is down, then you have everything you need to be able to explore that castle.
