If you can pry your eyes loose from your monitor, you might want to go outside in the evening to watch the meteor show. It peaks on Aug. 12, but there are plenty of them for a few days before and after that. My son noticed several on Aug 9.

Naturally, you need to get away from city lights. This year's show happens during the new moon, so if the sky is clear, viewing conditions should be excellent. Sometimes you will see several a minute.
