As a Tennessean(sic), I probably should be offended, but I'm not. Mainly, I am just cruious about why the word sounds so un-good to you.

I have been a regular reader of Nashville's "Tennessean" for more than 50 years and I consider it to be an excellent newspaper. I'm glad they didn't call it the Nashvillian or something unsavory like that.
