I just took another step into the 21st century. I resisted as long as I could. As much as I dislike telephones, particularly cell phones, I realize that an old coot out running around by himself needs to stay in touch. Yep, I got a cell phone.

I don't expect to use it much, probably only in emergencies, because most of the time I have my wife with me. She is well trained in secretarial skills and she is a great communicator. That's why I had convinced myself I didn't need a cell phone. But the next time I have a flat tire on a rainy night out in the country, I'll be ready. And I can make that all important call from the supermarket; "I got the milk and bread. What was that other item?"
