Thanks. I don't know how original of an idea it is, but it's one I used before long ago on the poster for my senior art show when I was in college.

I think maybe putting some whitespace between it and the top of the screen would be a good idea, and I think I'll align it with the left side of the Last Photo button. I'm not sure about making it bigger though; I don't want it to compete too much visually with the set titles.

Yes, that's the point of the thumbnail navigation on the left side. The current version of the site has a similar set-up but uses tables, and requires you to leave the thumbnail navigation page to view the full-size image.
