Try going back to a certain place. By your mention that you've been back home, I'm guessing you've been to that place before. Now's a good time to put the guard's sword to good use.
After you've throughly explored that area, go back to Larosis. Now that you're out of prison, a new area (well, house at least) will be opened. Freshen yourself up there and new options will be open to you in the marketplace.
