Most of the men eating there were wearing their hat, so I kept mine on too. There were lots of blue jeans and facial hair, and plenty of boots and work shoes. There were a couple of 300 pounders present and some of the men were big too. The menu was extensive with lots of fish, chicken and beef. I had a philly steak sandwich and the three ladies with me had fish. There were several children present including a set of twins about a year old. Almost all of the kids came in with grandparents. One of the two waitresses was pregnant, and the owner had a goatee. The music was country.

> There were five of us: me, my mother, my little brother, my mother's friend, and her daughter.
> My little brother was the only one not to have fish. He had a Mexican-style pizza. Three of us drank wine, my little brother drank Coca Cola, and my mother's friend's daughter drank water.
> The dish I had was quite tasty, but very bland. It consisted of deep-fried fish and crustaceans. And a side salad. Nothing else. No potatoes, no rice, not even any decorative vegetables.
> The bill came to €100, which I guess is about $129 nowadays. Not bad, for such an expensive country as Monaco.

I have tenative plans for a trip to France this summer. Should I go for a side trip to Monoco?

As much as we travel, we eat in a lot of different places. Some are upscale, which means pricy, and some are quaint little diners with home-cooked style food. As much as we like the plush surroundings of the high-priced places, we find that the quality of the food is not much different. The most consistant food is Mexican. It seems to be good anywhere you go. I like to order Mexican in places that appear to be very un-Mexican, so I've had tacos and burritos in New England, Hawaii, Canada, Kentucky, and even in Cuban areas of Florida. I expect to eat Mexican food in Paris, just for kicks.
