I don't know if I should worry about this or not, but there is a big commercial/residential development being built less than two miles from our house. The say they are going to spend 250,000,000 US dollars. That's a quarter of a billion (B)and I'm not talking about development in downtown Boston, New York, or even Knoxville. This the boonies.

We have two sons in the construction business and they say that buildings are cheaper here. A house here sells for about half of what a similar house would be some other parts of the country. The same probably is true for big box department stores, condos, and strip malls. The development will even include about 100 single family dewellings, probably under half a million each.

One of the reasons we live here is that 35 years ago it was rural as all get out. We can still hear cows and horses. We have lots of wildlife passing through our yard, and the road dead-ends a quarter of a mile past the house. It's quiet and peaceful, so far.

We might save gas by shopping closer to home, but then again we might waste a lot of gas while stuck in traffic jams in places where there have never been traffic jams before.

I guess I talked myself into it. Now I'm worried.
