I read your post but not the replies, so I apologize if I am repeating things others have said.

College is a pretty major decision, that's true. But the mentality of "my life is going to be ruined if I can get into such and such a school" isn't really accurate. I think that if you are determined to learn all you can and to make the most out of your college experience, you'll allow yourself to get much more out of a "poorer-quality" school than someone without that determination will get from an Ivy League one.
