Just realize that when you graduate from college, after a year or two nobody will ever care what you studied (unless you plan on going back into academia, where these things are very important). All that really matters is job experience.

With an English degree there are a lot of good jobs you can get: corporate communications, public relations, and any other number of corporate writing gigs. Every company needs people who can write well, and so an English degree, along with communication and journalism degrees, are generally the ones people look for in those entry level jobs. Like I said, once you're looking for a second job, all that matters is experience.

And you can always get jobs that are completely unrelated to your degree. I work as a technical writer and my degree is in political science (before that I was a newspaper reporter). Heck, Dave has an English degree and he's a systems administrator.

So I wouldn't really worry about it too much.
