As I'm going to Colomars, France, for my Christmas holiday, I thought I'd check where I would end up if I were to dig from there. As Colomars is quite a bit further south from Helsinki, I thought my second hole would end up significantly further north, to some place closer to where people actually live.
No such luck. It's a little bit directly east from a small, apparently uninhabited, island located east from New Zealand's south island, about on the same latitude as Christchurch.
