comedy of errors on Friday the 13th

I sat up late last night watching a botched up car race that should have been over shortly after ten, instead of running until nearly midnight. It was almost funny. In fact, I think I chuckled a little.

One driver called his pit crew and said he had a tire going down. They looked with binoculars and said, no, that it looked OK, so he kept going until he had a flat and lost two laps.

Two drivers racing for the lead wrecked each other and finished 26th and 27th.

During a caution period, the second place car stopped for a pit stop while the lead car stayed on the track. When the second place car came back on the track ahead of the leader they had to stop the race for ten minutes to figure out who was leading.

One driver lost control and spun in the middle of the track. He called his pit crew and said, "The bad news is that I spun, and the good news is that I didn't hit anything." He forgot to mention that ten cars wrecked trying to miss his spinning car.

One driver had such a slow car, the others were having trouble dodging him. But caution periods kept him from going a lap down, and at the end, he wound up second. Only seven of 43 cars finished on the lead lap.

On driver got to make up a lost lap, but it caused him to lose a number of positons on the track.

A wreck on the 199th of 200 laps required extra laps under a rule called green, white, checker.

The fastest car doesn't always win, especially on Friday the 13th.
