Jack Nicholson is Frank Costello, an inmportant man in organized crime. Matt Damon is Colin Sullivan, Frank's protege and erstwhile son. Leonardo DiCaprio is William Costigan, a cop being placed undercover in Frank's entourage to gather information.

Sullivan is taken into the police department and flies up the ranks, and is brought into the investigation to find Costello. Costigan, meanwhile, is placed in Costello's group. They each learn about the other, without actually knowing the identity of the other, and thus, a game of cat and mouse ensues.

Martin Sheen and Alec Baldwin round out the cast.

Fairly good movie. I enjoyed it. Though slow in places, Scorsese's direction makes up for it, bringing the tension a heightened sense. The conclusion of the movie is pretty shocking, ending in a way I didn't foresee, but which made sense.

Everyone turns in a passable performance, though Dicaprio can't seem to decide on an accent to go with. He floats from Boston, to neutral, to New England, to New York. Everyone else does well with it, and Martin Sheen is always fun to watch.

That being said, as I mentioned, it is boring in a few places, and seems to drag, but once you get past those parts, it's actually a fairly enjoyable movie.
