Reviews and Comments

This silent melodrama is interesting only because it's Alfred Hitchcock's first (completed) film. Watching it with this in mind, one can pick out occasional rudimentary directorial touches that Hitchcock would refine later. The story has potential but doesn't have the character development to get it the weight it needs. Still, there is something almost admirable about how gleefully mad it gets toward the end.
