This bit of popcorn fluff is welcome if only as an excuse to assemble such a fantastic cast together and let them drive an action flick around the block. Clint Eastwood, Tommy Lee Jones, James Garner, and Donald Sutherland are all individually far more interesting to watch than most of the younger generation of action heroes. Unfortunately Space Cowboys doesn't aspire very high: action cliches and cut-out character conflicts are made to suffice, and nowhere is there anything we haven't seen before. Too bad.
