Jungle Goddess (1948)

Reviews and Comments

I have a soft spot for old backlot jungle flicks, even the bad ones I have to slam in reviews if I am to be objective. But I found next to nothing to enjoy, even as a guilty pleasure, in Jungle Goddess, which is one of the talkiest adventure movies you could imagine. Talk, talk, talk. And it's bad dialogue, too, illogical and ill-fitting. One expects a certain amount of, you know, adventure in adventure movies. For most of Jungle Goddess, I wanted the characters to shut up and go outside. At the end, they finally do, and the little romp of a chase down a little jungle path is, to put it kindly, every bit as entertaining as the preceding dialogue.
